What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a subscription program wherein subscribers sign up to become a 'member' of the farm.  When the harvest comes in, members receive a weekly share of vegetables that are fresh, hand-picked, and washed the day of delivery.

A farm's CSA program provides much needed capital to buy seeds, soil, and other necessities to start the season off running.  Because no one can predict the weather and other forces of nature, members put their trust in the farmer that she will do all that is possible to provide a healthy and tasty amount of veggies during the season.  Additionally if these uncontrollable forces cause a crop failure, the farmer will know that her livelihood is not in jeopardy.
