CSA 2013: week 4




This week's share includes:
green beans
lacinato/tuscan/dinosaur kale
hakurei/salad turnips
lettuce mix
head of cabbage
cucumbers 
summer squash
cipollini onions (bianca di maggio)
basil

The veggies are getting heavier. Four hefty cucumbers this week! A quick and easy way to enjoy them is to make infused water. It's as simple as slicing your cucumbers and covering them with water. Pop in the fridge for a refreshing beverage. I tried a couple variations using basil and lime as well. As you drink the water, you can keep replenishing your concoction with fresh water for several days.





Or if you'd like to mix up a tasty alcoholic beverage, you can infuse vodka or gin with cucumbers in the same way. Just peel and seed them first and let the alcohol infuse for a few days. Strain before use and discard the cucumbers.
